Time To Teach

The Center For Teacher Effectiveness is rapidly becoming the leading provider of teacher education, training and staff development in the United States and Canada. The foundation for the Center's nationally acclaimed Time To Teach! program was constructed over twenty-seven years ago with the help and guidance of Dr. Madeline Hunter and Coach John Wooden, both of UCLA (quite a story).

The Center's major area of concentration is redefining teaching and learning in schools and providing highly useful professional teacher staff development. For the last decade, the Center has been producing and sponsoring high quality, in-depth training programs especially designed for education professionals, but which are also of great value and interest to parents as well. Many thousands of educators attend our seminars every year throughout the United States and Canada. Our programs are proven in practice, and are presented by outstanding experts in the subject matter. We have been nick-named the "Tools for Tomorrow not just Theory For Thought" company as our seminar emphasis is placed on highly practical training which can be immediately implemented when participants return to their own schools.

Our Beliefs

Time, it has been said, is the coin of learning. Yet every teacher has known the frustration of losing valuable instructional time to matters of discipline, just as every student has known the frustration of losing valuable learning time to matters of discipline. For some teachers and for some students, the amount of time lost is very great. The Center promotes Time To Teach, a highly effective program that was initially developed over 27 years ago with the help and guidance of Dr. Madeline Hunter and Coach John Wooden, both of UCLA. Time To Teach is a program proven to restore that lost time to teachers and students in a way that is simple, fair, and mutually respectful. We believe that it can be effective for you in your unique situation.

Our Philosophy

In a Time to Teach! training session individuals will learn classroom management strategies that are based on research and educator experience. School and learning is far from a one-size-fits-all model, the tools given in each training can be tailored to fit specific needs and teaching style. Attendees will gain a grasp of the following essential beliefs:

1. Caring is Key-
Gaining strong student rapport can increase their willingness to work for the teacher when the time calls. "Students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care." -Madeline Hunter

2. Conflict is Inevitable-
Students continuously challenge each other and school staff as they naturally explore right and wrong. Conflict is an essential part of growing up, and educators should know how to handle the circumstances in a caring effective manner.

3. Behavior Can Be Changed- Though the nature and nurture  of each individual's life is highly diverse, change can still occur because educators have a huge impact on correcting imperfect behavior. Parenting, community, and peer groups can no longer be an excuse for not teaching students.

4. Good Behavior Must Be Taught- Gone are the days where teachers post rules on the wall and expect students to follow. Students do not necessarily k
now how to behave. Students need to be taught rules and routines systematically to positively contribute to the ranks of society.

5. Good Discipline is Well-Timed- Through a need to improve learning, practice makes perfect, right? In reality practice makes permanent. Perfect practice makes perfect! Through non-emergent student misbehavior, an educator can intervene to correct the behavior, preventing a a chain of behavior before major problems happen.
